Lauren Bell’s Four-Fer Help Southern Brave Defend 106, March to Final Unbeaten

Southern Brave Women capped off a flawless league stage in The Hundred 2025 with their eighth straight win, sealing top spot on the table after a commanding 29-run victory over Welsh Fire Women. It was a complete performance with bat and ball, once again underlining their status as title favourites.

Put in to bat, Brave were tested early as wickets fell at regular intervals. Maia Bouchier’s early dismissal brought pressure, but Danni Wyatt-Hodge (24 off 23) provided stability with three boundaries, while Laura Wolvaardt’s brisk 8 off 4 injected momentum. Contributions from Freya Kemp (18 off 19) and Chloe Tryon (8 off 8) added depth in the middle overs, but it was skipper Georgia Adams’ composed 30* off 26 that anchored the innings.

Despite disciplined bowling from the Fire — led by Hayley Matthews (2/16), Shabnim Ismail (2/22), Jess Jonassen (1/22), Katie Levick (1/11) and Georgia Davis (1/20) — Brave battled their way to a competitive 106/8 from 100 balls.

In response, Welsh Fire faltered from the outset. Sophia Dunkley (9) fell cheaply, and while captain Tammy Beaumont fought hard with 28 off 33, her dismissal at 50/2 triggered a collapse. Matthews (16 off 20) and Georgia Elwiss (10 off 11) offered brief resistance, but the rest of the line-up folded under sustained pressure, finishing at 77/9.

The bowling effort from Brave was ruthless. Lauren Bell produced a stunning spell of 4/6 from 20 balls, dismantling Fire’s top order. She was backed brilliantly by Sophie Devine (1/19), Mady Villiers (1/16), Tilly Corteen-Coleman (1/22), Georgia Adams (1/8), and Chloe Tryon, ensuring no escape for the opposition.

The result reflected two contrasting campaigns. Southern Brave march unbeaten into the Final, awaiting the winner of the Northern Superchargers–London Spirit Eliminator, while last year’s runners up Welsh Fire bow out with just one win from eight matches, ending a disappointing season.
