Match 7: Nita Dalgaard’s 3-fer instrumental as Denmark seals a dominating win
Opening batter Anushka Gorad (20 off 43 balls) was the lone warrior with the bat for Norway after skipper Mirab Razwan won the toss and opted to bat first. The rest of the batters failed to reach double digits; as a result, they managed only 80/8 in their quota of 20 overs. The innings extras (21) were yet the highest run-scorer for them. Nita Dalgaard (4-0-14-3) and Divya Golechha (4-0-10-1) were the stand-out performers with the ball for Denmark. Sofie Ostergaard (4-0-20-1) also played her part.
Chasing a target of 81, Denmark’s top order – Tine Erichsen (26 off 35 balls), Anne Ostergaard (23* off 31 balls), and Line Leisner (17 off 19 balls) – made light work of the run chase, sealing the game with 7 wickets in hand and 31 balls to spare. Alina Aslam (2.5-0-12-1), Ramya Immadi (3-0-14-1), and Prachi Kumari (2-0-9-1) picked up a wicket each for Norway. Nita Dalgaard was awarded the Player of the Match for her impressive spell.
Match 8: Janet Ronalds’ all-round show gives Germany a thumping win
The German batters assessed the conditions early and capitalised later with classical stroke play and decent partnerships throughout the innings to post a massive 164/4 in 20 overs after skipper Asmita Kohli won the toss and opted to bat first. Opening batter Wilhelmina Hornero-Garcia (50* off 49 balls) stayed unbeaten on a well-crafted half-century. Janet Ronalds (45 off 49 balls), Nicole Kingsley (14* off 8 balls), and Shravya Kolcharam (15 off 7 balls) chipped in with crucial contributions. Extras (31) were again among the top scorers. Kanchan Rana (4-0-14-1), Zara Mohammad (4-0-30-1), and Malyun Yusuf (1-0-10-1) took wickets for Sweden.
Chasing 165, Sweden’s top order – Anya Vaidya (32 off 34 balls), Ekaterina Bogdanova (11 off 12 balls), and skipper Kanchan (10 off 16 balls) – showed promise. But a collapse saw them bundled out for 90 in 18.1 overs, losing their last 8 wickets for just 35 runs. Iris Edwards (4-0-19-3) and skipper Asmita Kohli (4-0-20-3) claimed three wickets each, while Janet Ronalds (4-0-17-2) and Ashwini Balaji (3.1-0-7-1) were also impressive. Ronalds was awarded the Player of the Match for her all-round show.
