Nannapat, Chanida, and Onnicha power Thailand to a dominating win
The game was reduced to a 9-over-per-side per side contest, due to rain. The experienced duo of Chanida Sutthiruang (37 off 30 balls) and wicketkeeper Nannapat Koncharoenkai (33 off 17 balls) took the attack to the Bhutan bowlers, after skipper Anju Gurung won the toss and inserted them to bat first. Thailand posted an imposing total of 88/3 in their quota of 9 overs. Ritshi Choden (2-0-14-1) was the lone wicket-taker with the ball for Bhutan. Sonam Choden (1-0-2-0) was impressive in her short spell.
Chasing a massive target of 89, the Bhutan batters failed to get used to the conditions as they just managed 43/5 in their quota of 9 overs, falling 45 runs short of the target. Wicket-keeper batter Dechen Wangmo (14 off 15 balls) and Tshering Zangmo (15 off 15 balls) were the only batters to enter the double digits with the bat for Bhutan. Suleeporn Laomi (2-0-7-2), Onnicha Kamchomphu (2-0-2-1), and Thipatcha Putthawong (2-0-4-1) were exceptional with the ball for the home side.
Indu Barma leads from the front to guide Nepal to a thumping win over Bahrain
The Bahrain batters walked out with positive intent after skipper Deepika Rasangika won the toss and opted to bat first at the Terdthai Cricket Ground, Bangkok. Bahrain was cruising along nicely despite losing three wickets at 76 in the 13th over of the innings, before persistent rains brought an abrupt end to their innings.
Rasika Rodrigo (24 off 29 balls), skipper Deepika Rasangika (23 off 27 balls), and Tharanga Gajanayake (12 off 12 balls) chipped in with crucial contributions with the bat for Bahrain. Skipper Indu Barma (3-0-13-0), Kabita Kunwar (2-0-11-0), and Riya Sharma (3-0-18-0) were impressive with the ball for Nepal.
The run-chase was reduced to seven overs, and the target was revised to 56 runs. Skipper Indu Barma (24* off 7 balls) blew away a major chunk of the total scoring at a soaring strike rate of 342.85, including four boundaries and a maximum to guide her side over the line in a canter with 6 wickets in hand and 8 balls to spare. Vice-captain Puja Mahato (13 off 11 balls) chipped in with a crucial contribution with the bat for her side. Pavithra Shetty (2-0-10-3) was the stand-out performer with the ball for Bahrain.
Note: The 15th game between Qatar and the United Arab Emirates was washed out without a ball being bowled.
