The second T20 of Namibia’s home series against South Africa Women’s National Academy, saw the visitors extend their winning streak with a commanding six-wicket victory over Namibia Women, the Capricorn Eagles.

Batting first, the Capricorn Eagles struggled to gain early momentum. Opener Sune Wittmann was dismissed for a duck, putting the side on the back foot immediately. However, Kayleen Green held the innings together with a steady half-century, scoring 50 off 43 balls at a strike rate of 116.
Green shared a crucial 44-run partnership with Edelle van Zyl, who added 17 off 24. Yasmeen Khan contributed 16 from 23 deliveries, while Mekelaye Mwatile provided a late push with a quick 22 off 17 balls. Despite these efforts, the lower order couldn’t build on the platform, as the disciplined bowling attack of South Africa Women’s Academy restricted them to 121 for 7 in their 20 overs.
Kayla Reyneke was impressive with the ball, taking 2 for 12, while Caitlin Gail Wyngaard chipped in with 2 for 21. Gandhi Papama Hlumela Jafta added further pressure with a tight spell, conceding just 9 runs and taking one wicket in her two overs.
In response, the South Africa Women’s National Academy paced their chase smartly. Though Alexandra Clare Candler fell early for 6, Simoné Lourens anchored the innings with a well-constructed 34 off 29 balls. She stitched together a 47-run partnership that laid the foundation for the chase.
Eliz-Mari Marx played a supporting role with 18 off 19, while Jafta, continuing her all-round performance, scored a vital 21* from 20 deliveries. The match was ultimately sealed by a fluent and aggressive knock from Delmari Tucker, who remained unbeaten on 26 from just 16 balls, striking at 162.50 and steering her team to 122 for 4 in just 16.1 overs.
Despite a spirited effort from the Eagles’ bowling attack led by Eveleen Kejarukua with 2 for 19 and Victoria Hamunyela with 1 for 10, it wasn’t enough to halt the momentum of the South African side.
With this win, the South Africa Women’s National Academy continues to assert their dominance in the series, showcasing a balanced side with strength in both departments and growing confidence in their young talents.
