The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the Player of the Month nominees for June 2025. The nominees for the month are West Indies’ captain, Hayley Matthews, South Africa’s Tazmin Brits, and West Indies’ Afy Fletcher.

Tazmin Brits (South Africa)
The South African opener enjoyed a stellar run with the bat in June, dominating the ODI series and carrying her fine form into the T20Is against the West Indies. Her consistent performances earned her the Player of the Series award in the ODIs.
She got off to a strong start in the ODI series, scoring 57 off 65 balls in the first match. However, her performance dipped in the second ODI, where she struggled to find rhythm and managed just 26 off 54 deliveries. Any doubts about her form were quickly put to rest in the third ODI, where she scored her fourth ODI century with an impressive 101 off 91 balls. Across the three-match series, Brits amassed 184 runs at an average of 61.33 and a strike rate of 87.61.
She carried her impressive form into the T20I series, starting with a commanding unbeaten 98 runs in 63 balls in the first match, which earned her the Player of the Match award. However, her next two innings produced scores of 14 and 20, as South Africa ultimately lost the series 2-1 to the West Indies. In total, the opener scored 132 runs in the T20Is at an average of 66.00 and a strike rate of 122.22.
Hayley Matthews (West Indies)
The West Indies skipper was in excellent form with the bat, continuing her excellent form from the series against England, where she was named Player of the Series in the T20Is. Hayley Matthews then played a pivotal role in guiding her team to a 2-1 T20I series victory over South Africa.
She had a slow but steady start to the ODI series against South Africa, recording scores of 40 and 8 in the first two matches before finishing with a well-crafted half-century in the final game. With the ball, she contributed by taking four wickets at an average of 34.25. Despite the West Indies winning the opening match of the ODI series, they went on to lose the next two and conceded the series 2-1. Across the three ODIs, Matthews scored 104 runs at an average of 34.66 and a strike rate of 94.54.
The skipper truly showcased her class in the T20I series, scoring 147 runs at an average of 73.50 and a strike rate of 120.49, while also picking up two wickets. After a modest 19 in the first match, she anchored the next two innings with knocks of 63* and 65, leading the West Indies to a comeback 2-1 series win after trailing 0-1. Her all-round brilliance earned her the Player of the Series award in the T20Is against South Africa as well.
Afy Fletcher (West Indies)
The leg-spinner finished as the leading wicket-taker in both the T20I and ODI series against South Africa, playing a crucial role in West Indies’ T20I series victory.
Fletcher began the month with a solitary wicket against England and followed it up with another in the first ODI against South Africa. However, she soon found her rhythm, taking four wickets in the second ODI and adding three more in the final match. She finished the ODI series with nine wickets at an economy rate of 5.53 and an average of 24, while also contributing 30 runs at a strike rate of 100.
Her excellent form carried into the T20Is, where she once again led the wicket-taking charts with five wickets at an average of 16.20 and an economy of 6.75. Fletcher played a vital role in the West Indies’ comeback, delivering key spells of 2 for 13 in the second T20I and 2 for 28 in the decider, helping to restrict South Africa and seal a 2-1 series victory.
