The Blaze Women

The Blaze won the toss in their most recent game against Essex Women and elected to bat first, posting a total of 139 runs. Heather Graham top-scored with 33 from 23 balls, but the innings saw wickets fall in regular intervals, including dismissals of the Bryce sisters by Abtaha Maqsood. Essex’s Eva Gray impressed with bowling figures of 4/18, helping restrict The Blaze just short of their full 20 overs.

In response, Essex Women struggled against tight bowling from Sarah Glenn (3/17), Cassidy McCarthy (1/8), and skipper Kirstie Gordon (4/22), who took two wickets in two balls. Essex was limited to 104/9, falling short by 35 runs. The disciplined bowling attack of The Blaze, particularly in the middle overs, ensured they defended their total successfully and sealed their place in Finals Day.

The Blaze have maintained a strong win-loss record, with notable victories over Lancashire, Durham, and Surrey. While they have suffered a few defeats—including a close loss to Surrey in their most recent encounter—they have consistently finished in the top bracket of the points table, securing their place in Finals Day. The Blaze Women have won seven games while losing two with a Tie and a No/Result game as well in their 12-match campaign so far. Their ability to bounce back from setbacks has been a hallmark of their season.

Warwickshire Women

On the other hand, in the most recent outing of Warwickshire Women against the Hampshire Women, Warwickshire Women (Bears) batted first and posted 165 for 9, largely thanks to a brilliant 70 from teenager Davina Perrin, who steadied the innings after early wickets. Despite a strong half-century (58) from Hampshire’s Ellyse Perry, Hampshire fell short, finishing at 149 for 6, losing by 16 runs.

Hannah Baker’s bowling was crucial in the defense, taking 3 wickets for 18 runs, including key dismissals that halted Hampshire’s chase. The victory secured Warwickshire’s spot at Finals Day, highlighting Perrin’s emergence as a star and the Bears’ balanced team effort.

Millie Taylor

Millie Taylor has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign for Warwickshire Women in the Blast. In her first season with the Bears, the 19-year-old spinning all-rounder has been outstanding, quickly establishing herself as a key member of the bowling attack.

Taylor is currently the second leading wicket-taker in the competition, with 18 wickets in 12 innings at an average of 15.38. She has delivered consistently in pressure situations, including a notable 2/19 against Hampshire and several other multi-wicket hauls that helped the Bears defend totals and close out tight matches. Her ability to take wickets in the middle overs has been crucial to Warwickshire’s success and their qualification for Finals Day.

Surrey Women

Surrey Women have advanced to the Women’s T20 Blast Finals Day after a consistently dominant group stage campaign. Their qualification was sealed with a gritty 10-run victory over The Blaze at Trent Bridge, where they defended a modest total of 132 for 9. Despite a shaky start in the field and conceding 27 runs in the first two overs of The Blaze’s chase, Surrey’s slower bowlers—especially Ryana MacDonald-Gay (2/14) and Kalea Moore (2/17)—turned the game around, restricting The Blaze to 122 for 5 and showcasing their ability to perform under pressure.

Surrey have been the most consistent side in the competition, suffering just one defeat in the group stage. Their depth with both bat and ball, and their ability to recover from setbacks within matches, have made them the team to beat heading into Finals Day at The Oval.
