As the Indian ‘A’ Women led by Radha Yadav gear up for their eagerly awaited multi-format series down under, fresh developments have emerged concerning squad composition ahead of the tour.

The upcoming series against Australia A promises a comprehensive test featuring three T20s, three 50-over matches, and a four-day red-ball game, providing the young Indian talents a golden opportunity to hone their skills against quality opposition in varied conditions.

The biggest news from the Indian camp is the unavailability of two promising players, Shreyanka Patil and Priya Mishra. Both were initially named in the preliminary squads, subject to fitness clearance as per the BCCI’s notification on July 10.

However, subsequent assessments have led to their being ruled out due to ongoing Return-to-Play protocols under the strict supervision of the BCCI Medical Team at the Centre of Excellence. Their absence leaves gaps but also opens doors for others to step up.

In response, the Women’s Selection Committee has made thoughtful inclusions to strengthen the squad across formats. Dhara Gujjar, who was originally part of the one-day and multi-day squads, and Prema Rawat, initially named for the T20s, have now been drafted across all three formats to add depth and experience.

Additionally, Yastika Bhatia, a seasoned campaigner known for her composure behind the stumps and steady batting, joins the one-day squad, bolstering India A’s middle order and wicketkeeping department.

The India A leadership remains consistent with Radha Yadav donning the captain’s hat, and Minnu Mani as vice-captain across formats. The balance of youth and experience in batting, pace, spin, and wicketkeeping spells a well-rounded contest for spots and performance.
