At just 21, Kranti Goud has stormed into the spotlight, etching her name alongside the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav with a stunning 6-wicket haul against England Women in the third ODI of India’s 2025 tour of England.

In the series-deciding third ODI, Kranti delivered a fiery spell of 6/52 in 9.2 overs, dismantling England’s middle and lower order and sealing a 13-run victory for India Women. Her performance not only guided India to a memorable win on English soil but also placed her in an elite club of Indian bowlers to have taken six-wicket hauls in against England in England, a rare but memorable feat.
Goud struck twice in her opening spell, removing England’s established openers, Tammy Beaumont and Amy Jones, inside her first three overs. While the hosts stabilised through a gutsy partnership, the pressure of Goud’s unrelenting lines and lengths was never far removed. The real magic, however, came in the death overs.
As England’s chase ebbed and flowed, Goud returned to flatten the lower order, snaring four wickets in a pulsating finish, including the dangerous Charlie Dean, Alice Davidson-Richards, Lauren Filer, and Lauren Bell. Her final figures, 9.5 overs, 1 maiden, 52 runs, 6 wickets, didn’t just reflect wickets, but crucial momentum shifts, each scalp sending India closer to a slice of history.
Goud’s landmark six-for places her alongside some sterling names in Indian cricket. She joins an exclusive leaderboard featuring legendary pacer Jasprit Bumrah (6/19, The Oval, 2022) and wizard spinner Kuldeep Yadav (6/25, Trent Bridge, 2018), both whose performances swung high-stake contests India’s way against England, and both of whom claimed Player-of-the-Match honours for their brilliance.
Her ability to bowl with controlled aggression, to swing the ball late even under pressure, and to clean up the tail in the high-octane finish speaks to a temperament and skillset that bodes well not just for the individual but for the evolution of India’s women’s pace battery.
Despite having played just four WODI innings, Kranti has already claimed 9 wickets, with her best being the remarkable 6/52. Her current economy of 5.88 reflects her aggressive fast-bowling approach, capable of picking wickets at crucial moments and breaking partnerships. Across the India Women’s tour of England, she emerged as the key wicket-taker for her side, again finishing with 9 wickets across the series.
Kranti’s rise to the national spotlight began with her impactful debut in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025, representing UP Warriorz. A fast-bowling all-rounder from Madhya Pradesh, she quickly established herself as one of the most promising young Indian talents in the tournament. Her best spell of 4/25 came in a standout performance against the Delhi Capitals, making her the second-youngest cricketer to take a four-wicket haul in WPL history, after Issy Wong’s record-breaking spell in 2023.
With 6 wickets in her debut WPL season, Kranti not only displayed her ability with the ball but also impressed with her composure under pressure and potential as a future all-format star. In a video shared by BCCI Women as India celebrated their bilateral series win, that quickly captured hearts across the cricketing world, captain Harmanpreet Kaur was seen handing over the award and the match ball, saying:
“She deserves to share this. And also, the ball with which Kranti took 6 wickets—and the trophy too.” On the match ball, Kaur penned a heartfelt message: “Dear Kranti, you are a star, 6/52 in 9.5 overs.”
Kaur lauded Kranti’s performance with deep admiration: “She held her best spell of her career, and I think it’s a great achievement—not just for her, but for Indian cricket. For the team, and especially for our pace attack—we’ve been waiting and hoping for performances like this. The way she brought her experience from the WPL and domestic cricket into this series, and executed under pressure, it was just brilliant.”
Kranti Goud’s journey marks the emergence of a new era in Indian women’s cricket, where pace, aggression, and confidence meet youthful hunger. Her performances have already sparked conversations about her being a future mainstay in India’s pace battery, especially in overseas conditions.
With the WODI World Cup on the horizon, and the growing stature of the WPL, Goud’s development will be closely watched. If her early performances are any indication, India may have unearthed a game-changer.
