Electing to bat first, USA Women U19s faced an early wobble at the top, losing wickets in quick succession. Openers Chetna Pagydyala (8) and Nikhar Pinku Doshi (15 off 18) couldn’t convert their starts, while Saanvi Sood managed a scratchy 14 off 21 before falling just as she looked set.

The top order collapse continued as Sainavi Kamabalapalli was dismissed for a duck, and Pooja Ganesh followed soon after with just 5 runs to her name. At 47/5, the Americans were in deep trouble, but the tide turned when Taranum Chopra and Maahi Madhavan stitched together a much-needed 30-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Chopra played a mature hand with an unbeaten 28* off 26 deliveries, anchoring the innings with boundaries and well-run singles.

Maahi Madhavan provided the late flourish with a handy 20 off 15 balls, pushing the team past the 100-run mark. USA finished with 104/7 in their 20 overs, a total that seemed modest but ultimately proved more than enough on a surface assisting bowlers. Theanny Mayers picked up 2/9 along with Brianna Plummer who also picked up 2/24.

In response, the West Indies U19 Women never quite found their rhythm during the chase. Their innings got off to a shaky start with Amrita Ramtahal scoring just 7 off 12 and Brianna Harricharan contributing only 4. Naijanni Cumberbatch fell for a golden duck, while Eboni Brathwaite failed to accelerate, managing only 7 runs. The USA bowlers kept things tight, not allowing any breathing room.

The only real resistance came from Samara Ramnath, who stood tall amidst the collapse with a composed and fighting 35* off 44 deliveries. The West Indies lower order folded in dramatic fashion, losing their final five wickets for just 10 runs. The hosts were eventually bowled out for 81 in 19 overs, falling short by 23 runs.

USA’s bowlers turned in a stunning performance with Aditi Praveen Kumar leading the way with a sensational 4/10 in 4 overs. Her spell broke the back of the West Indies chase. She was well-supported by Saanvi Immadi, who also returned figures of 4/16, ripping through the middle and lower order with pace and control. Chetna Pagydyala and Taranum Chopra chipped in with a wicket each, wrapping up the tail and sealing a memorable win for the Americans.

This victory is another feather in the cap for the USA U19 Women’s team as they build momentum heading into the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2027.
