Nida Dar becomes first Pakistani female to reach 250 International wickets

Pakistan’s Nida Dar etched her name in the annals of cricket history by becoming the first Pakistan women’s player to claim 250 international wickets. She achieved this incredible milestone against Sri Lanka in the second Semi-Final of the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup 2024.

Known for her right-arm off-break bowling and valuable contributions with the bat, Dar has been a cornerstone of the Pakistan women’s cricket team for over a decade. In the second semi-final of the Asia Cup 2024 against Sri Lanka, Nida Dar achieved a significant milestone by claiming her 250th international wicket. She reached this landmark by dismissing Sugandika Kumari on the second ball of the 20th over. Although her team lost to Sri Lanka by 3 wickets, this accomplishment marked a notable highlight in her career. This remarkable achievement underscores Dar’s exceptional skill, consistency, and longevity in the sport.

Nida Dar made her T20 International debut on May 6, 2010, against Sri Lanka during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Basseterre. She showed her incredible performance with the ball, taking 2 wickets in 2 overs at an economy of 5.00. With this performance in her inaugural T20 International match, she announced herself on the biggest stage of the game. To date in T20 Internationals, she has taken 142 wickets in 145 innings at an economy of 5.68, while also adding 1964 runs to the tally from 134 innings, making her name all over the world as a complete cricketer who can both bowl and bat.

Dar made her ODI debut on October 6, 2010, against Ireland during the ICC Women’s Cricket Challenge in Potchefstroom. In the 2018 Women’s Asia Cup, she became the top wicket-taker by clinching 11 wickets, although her team unfortunately could not win the tournament that year.
