The second clash of the Women’s Caribbean Premier League 2025 brought another entertaining contest, this time ending in favour of the Barbados Royals Women, who chased down a revised target with authority to secure a 7-wicket victory over the Guyana Amazon Warriors Women under the DLS method.

Batting first, the Warriors looked far more settled than in their opening match, posting a competitive 154/4 in 20 overs. The innings began with a solid foundation as Amy Hunter (34 off 26) and Realeanna Grimmond (61* off 57) forged a vital 53-run partnership for the opening wicket, balancing caution with aggression.
After Hunter’s dismissal, Stafanie Taylor joined Grimmond, and the two added another 44 runs, with Taylor contributing a steady 15 off 15 before falling at a crucial stage. While Grimmond held her ground with a composed half-century, the innings got a late surge of momentum courtesy of Laura Harris’ explosive cameo, 26 off just 7 balls at a staggering strike rate of 371, smashing boundaries to all parts of the ground. Dane van Niekerk chipped in with an unbeaten 11* off 11 to take the total beyond the 150-mark.
For Barbados, Aaliyah Alleyne (2/27) bowled with discipline to provide key breakthroughs, while Sheneta Grimmond (1/19) and Shamilia Connell (1/26) kept things under control in the middle overs.
With rain interruptions altering the course of the chase, Barbados were set a revised target of 137 in 18 overs, and they approached it with confidence. Chamari Athapaththu (29 off 24) and Qiana Joseph (22 off 22) gave the Royals a brisk start, putting together a 44-run opening stand that laid the platform for the middle order. Although both fell in quick succession, Barbados did not lose momentum.
Wicketkeeper-batter Georgia Redmayne anchored the innings with a composed 33* off 29, rotating the strike smartly and ensuring the run rate stayed in check. The decisive partnership, however, came in the latter stages as captain Chinelle Henry played a captain’s knock, blistering 37* off just 19 balls, stitching together an unbeaten 53-run stand with Redmayne. Their aggressive strokeplay took the game away from Guyana, sealing the chase with plenty to spare.
The Warriors bowlers tried hard to pull the game back, with Ashmini Munisar (2/24) once again impressing as the most effective bowler and Laura Harris (1/30) chipping in with a wicket, but the lack of breakthroughs in the middle overs proved costly.
In the end, Barbados Royals showcased a well-rounded performance, blending stability at the top, calmness in the middle, and power-hitting at the death to get their campaign up and running.
