It happened on the third ball of the over when Minnu Mani delivered a shortish delivery on the stumps. The ball seemed to stick in the surface, causing Kerr to mistime her attempted pull shot.

The lack of pace and extra bounce resulted in a top edge that soared towards long-on. Sutherland, stationed at long-on, sprinted an incredible 28 meters before diving forward to complete a magnificent catch.

The crowd erupted in applause as Delhi Capitals players celebrated the stunning effort. The Mumbai Indians camp was left in disbelief, especially since this dismissal came immediately after a strategic timeout.

With this dismissal, Amelia Kerr walked back to the pavilion after scoring 17 runs off 18 balls, including two boundaries, at a strike rate of 94.44.

Her wicket was Mani’s second of the match, and she eventually finished with impressive figures of 3/17 in her three-over spell. Jess Jonassen also contributed significantly with three wickets, helping Delhi restrict Mumbai to a below-par total of 123.

Sutherland’s spectacular catch quickly became a sensation on social media, with fans hailing it as the best of the Women’s Premier League so far. Her incredible display of athleticism, covering a remarkable distance before executing a stunning grab, drew widespread admiration.
