Switzerland Women’s tour of Belgium in May 2025 was a showcase of their growing prowess in women’s cricket, as they completed a dominant clean sweep in the four-match T20I series. Switzerland, led by the standout Meghna Rajan (Player of the Series), consistently outplayed their Belgian counterparts with both bat and ball. Each match at the Stars Arena Hofstade in Zemst saw Switzerland Women set or chase down competitive totals with confidence, while their bowlers maintained tight lines and took crucial wickets at regular intervals.

Belgium Women, despite moments of resilience—particularly from players like Smriti Kaneria and Veera Redkar—struggled to keep up with Switzerland’s intensity. The hosts were often restricted to modest totals or found themselves under pressure while chasing. The series was marked by Switzerland’s disciplined bowling, especially in the latter matches, where key spells from bowlers such as Metty Fernandes and Sejal Vinod dismantled the Belgium batting order.
Heading into the 3rd T20I at the Stars Arena Hofstade, Zemst, on May 29, 2025, Switzerland secured a 2-0 lead in the opening days of play. Switzerland won the toss and elected to field first, and with plans in place, restricted Belgium to a modest total.
Belgium posted 56 runs in their allotted 20 overs, with openers Smriti Kaneria and Aashita Gupta being the only batters to reach double-digit scores, 13 and 10, respectively. Saranya Kotha and Sejal Vinod ran through the middle order, bowling Belgium out for 56. Vinod (3/11 off 3) and Kotha (3/4 off 2) were the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets each.
Switzerland chased down the target comfortably in just 10.4 overs, securing an 8-wicket victory. The chase was anchored by opener Jemima Edmiston, who remained not out on 22 (37), and Franziska Kuenburg, who contributed 19* (22). Ramya Krishnamurthy and Sejal Vinod were the only wickets to fall, both dismissed cheaply, but Switzerland was always in control of the run chase. It was a comfortable and dominant display from Switzerland as they secured the series with a game still to be played.
In the fourth T20I, Belgium won the toss and elected to field first. Switzerland put up a commanding performance, posting a strong total of 168/4 in their 20 overs. Switzerland got off to a brisk start, losing an early wicket in Laila Pickard. Ramya Punekar was phenomenal in anchoring the innings with the bat, scoring 40 (54), putting Switzerland in a comfortable position.
The innings were finished by Meghna Rajan, who scored 47* (40), and Sejal Vinod, who contributed 18 off 17. Switzerland maintained a healthy run rate, thanks to aggressive running and a flurry of extras conceded by Belgium (48 in total, including 38 wides and 9 no-balls).
Chasing a challenging target of 169, Belgium Women struggled from the outset. They lost opener Veera Redkar early for 3, and wickets kept falling at regular intervals. Smriti Kaneria top-scored with 17 off 31 balls, but no other batter managed to reach double digits apart from Sruthi Yenamandra (10 off 33). Switzerland’s bowling was led by Meghna Rajan, who took 3/10 (3.4), and Sejal Vinod and Metty Fernandes, who chipped in with two wickets each.
Belgium was eventually bowled out for 88 in 19.4 overs, falling 80 runs short of the target. Meghna Rajan was named Player of the Series for her outstanding all-round performances throughout Switzerland Women’s tour of Belgium in May 2025.
Across the four T20Is, Rajan made crucial contributions with both bat and ball. She played pivotal innings in several matches, notably scoring an unbeaten 58 off 55 balls in the 2nd T20I to guide her team to victory. With the ball, Rajan was economical and effective, picking up key wickets at important moments, such as her spell of 3.4-0-10-3 in the 4th match. Her consistency and impact in every game were instrumental in Switzerland’s 4-0 series sweep. She was an example of a captain leading from the front.
