Head of female cricket for Cricket Victoria has found its new successful leader in former renowned player, Kirby Short. Short has had a successful tenure as a Captain of the Brisbane Heat, guiding the team to back-to-back Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) titles in 2018-19 and 2019-20 season. She brings a wealth of experience both on and off the field. She has also served as a director with Queensland Cricket and as a prominent commentator for Fox Sports and Channel Seven, after retiring from Cricket in 2020.
In Short’s new position as the in-charge, she will be taking care of Victoria’s women’s cricket programs’ operational management and strategic direction. Identifying talent, creating player development pathways, and creating an atmosphere will be some of her key duties as the new head coach.
