Brooke Maree Halliday has steadily grown into one of New Zealand’s most promising all-rounders since making her debut in 2021. Halliday’s journey reflects patience, consistency, and a knack for making an impact when it matters most.

After spending nine seasons with Northern Districts and enjoying a breakthrough domestic campaign as one of the top run-scorers in the country, Halliday’s moment arrived in February 2021. She was called up to the national squad for the ODI series against England and immediately impressed in a warm-up game, scoring a sparkling 79 off 56 balls for New Zealand XI. Days later, she made her ODI debut against England on 23 February, followed by her T20I debut just over a week later.

Brooke Halliday’s International Career

Halliday’s performances didn’t go unnoticed, in March 2021, she was nominated for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month Award. Soon after, New Zealand Cricket rewarded her with a central contract ahead of the 2021-22 season. Her consistency earned her places in New Zealand’s squads for major tournaments, including the 2022 Women’s ODI World Cup on home soil and the Birmingham Commonwealth Games later that year. She continued to be part of New Zealand’s long-term plans, developing into a dependable lower-middle-order batter and a useful part-time bowler.

Her standout international moment came in the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup final, where she struck 38 off 28 balls and claimed 1/4 in a decisive over as New Zealand clinched the title against South Africa. In ODIs, Halliday has built a reputation as a reliable presence in the middle order. From 36 innings, she has scored 870 runs, including the highest score of 86. While still chasing her maiden international century, her ability to rotate strike, build partnerships, and finish strongly has made her a vital link in New Zealand’s batting line-up.
