India’s star off-spinner Deepti Sharma is closing in on the top spot in the ICC Women’s T20I Player Rankings, now just eight rating points away from becoming the world’s No. 1 ranked T20 International bowler.
Although Deepti has consistently remained within the top 10 of the T20I bowling rankings for most of the past six years, the 27-year-old has yet to claim the No. 1 spot, despite her impressive form and consistency in recent times.

In the latest T20I rankings update, Deepti Sharma has moved up one spot, overtaking Australia’s fast-bowling all-rounder, Annabel Sutherland, to reclaim second place. The off spinner now sits just eight rating points behind Pakistan’s Sadia Iqbal, who holds the top position.
The second-highest wicket-taker in Women’s T20I cricket, Deepti earned her latest rise in the rankings after claiming a three-wicket haul in the third match of India’s five-game T20I series against England. The spinner has picked up 6 wickets across the first three matches of the series so far.
The spinner also holds the No. 3 spot in the ICC Women’s T20I All-Rounder Rankings, highlighting her batting abilities and underlining her importance as a key member of the current Indian squad.
Fellow teammate and fast bowler Arundhati Reddy is also on the rise, climbing 11 spots to reach joint 43rd in the T20I bowling rankings. The seamer’s jump comes after her impressive three-wicket haul in the most recent match of the series against England at The Oval.
Several England bowlers also made gains following their narrow five-run victory at the Kennington Oval. Pacers Issy Wong (up three spots to joint 57th) and Lauren Filer (up 21 places to joint 68th) were the biggest movers, while fellow quick Lauren Bell held steady at fourth in the T20I bowling rankings.
Australia’s Beth Mooney continues to hold a narrow lead at the top of the T20I batting rankings, though there has been movement just outside the top 10, driven by strong performances from England and India players in their ongoing series. Smriti Mandhana, after her maiden century and half-century, sits at the third spot with 771 points, just behind Beth Mooney and Hayley Matthews.
Indian middle-order batter Jemimah Rodrigues climbed two spots to 12th overall after her half-century in the second match of the series in Bristol. On the England side, opener Danni Wyatt-Hodge jumped three spots to reach 14th in the rankings, following her quick-fire half-century at The Oval. Sophia Dunkley also made progress, rising four spots to 26th in the T20I batting rankings after her 75. Meanwhile, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur slipped three places and now sits at 15th.
England’s leader of the spin department, Sophie Ecclestone, also made gains, climbing three places to eighth in the T20I all-rounder rankings after a career-best 35 with the bat in the second match of the series in Bristol.
The 5-match England – India series stands at 2-1 in India’s favour as the team prepares to take on the hosts next on July 9, 2025, at Old Trafford, Manchester.
