From the classrooms of Delhi to the biggest stages of cricket, Pratika Rawal’s journey has been defined by talent, discipline, and unshakable self-belief. A psychology graduate from Jesus & Mary College and a former basketball gold medalist at the 64th School National Games, she carried the same competitive spirit into cricket, quickly rising through the ranks to become one of India’s most exciting young batters.

Her domestic career began with Delhi, where she turned heads with a match-winning unbeaten 161 against Assam and consistent returns across tournaments, especially One Day games. In 2024, she made the move to Railways, sharpening her skills alongside some of India’s best. Steady scoring in national competitions and a reputation for temperament under pressure ensured her rapid promotion to the international level.

Pratika Rawal’s International Career

Rawal made her ODI debut in December 2024 against West Indies, immediately showing composure with a solid 40. She followed it up with a fluent 76 and a couple of wickets, hinting at her all-round ability. Just weeks later, she stamped her authority with a breathtaking 154 against Ireland in January 2025—her maiden century that earned her Player of the Match and Player of the Series in a dominant 3–0 sweep.

Since her debut, Rawal has already piled up 767 runs in just 15 ODIs, averaging 54.78 with one hundred and six fifties, along with four wickets. Her ability to anchor as well as accelerate has made her India’s go-to option at the top of the order.

Her rise has also coincided with one of the biggest selections calls in recent memory—the omission of Shafali Verma, who has struggled since the 2022 World Cup with only 277 runs in 14 innings and further lean returns on the A tour of Australia. In contrast, Rawal’s form has been irresistible, making her the natural choice to open for India alongside Smriti Mandhana.

The 2025 Women’s World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, will mark Rawal’s first appearance at the marquee event. For a player who has already shown poise, hunger, and match-winning ability, it is the perfect stage to further stamp her authority.
