Lancashire Women have strengthened their squad with the signing of Ireland captain Gaby Lewis for the final stages of the 2025 Women’s One-Day Cup. The 24-year-old all-rounder, who has played over 164 internationals (59 ODIs and 105 T20Is) since debuting at the age of 13, brings a wealth of experience.

Lewis’ international career is already remarkable. She has amassed 4466 runs across formats, including 2,723 in T20Is and 1,743 in ODIs, with two centuries and 31 half-centuries. Her record-breaking achievements include becoming Ireland’s leading run-scorer in women’s T20Is and the first Irish woman to score a T20I century, an unbeaten 105* against Germany in 2021.
David Thorley, Lancashire’s Director of Women’s Cricket, highlighted the immediate impact he expects from Lewis. On her role in the team, “We’re looking for someone to come in, hit the ground running and bolster the top order – and I think with Gaby there’s not many more experienced international players out there than her.”
On her recent performances, 193 runs, including two fifties, in 4 outings in the Europe Qualifier late last month, he added, “She’s just had a good spell with the European (T20 World Cup) Qualifiers and a series before that against Zimbabwe, so she’s in good form.”
Having arrived at Emirates Old Trafford earlier this week, Lewis is set to make her debut on September 4, against Somerset. She will feature in the last four group games as Lancashire look to maintain their second-place spot in the eight-team league and qualify for the semi-finals on 17 September.
With her proven ability to score heavily and lead from the front, Lewis adds a new dimension to Lancashire’s batting line-up. The Red Rose hope her experience and composure will guide them through the crucial closing stages of the tournament.
